Gold and silver calculators
Every calculator on this site, each on its own page. All of them price from the live spot feed, and none of them will show you a figure worked out from a price we cannot vouch for at the moment you ask.
Calculators
Bullion premium calculatorWork out what you are paying over spot on any coin or bar, including shipping, and see the metal and the markup as separate figures.
Scrap gold calculatorWhat scrap gold is worth by karat and weight: the exact melt value, and the share of it a refiner, a jeweller or a pawn shop will actually pay.
Junk silver calculatorWhat a jar of pre-1965 US silver coins is worth. Enter face value and get the actual silver weight and its melt value, with circulated wear accounted for.
Gold and silver holdings calculatorValue a gold and silver position at live spot, against what you paid, with the gain or loss on each metal and on the whole holding.
Precious metal weight converterConvert between grams, troy ounces, kilos, tolas and pennyweights — and the kitchen-scale ounce that is 10% lighter than the one metal is priced in.
Common questions
- Why does a dealer charge more than the spot price?
- Spot is the price for unfabricated metal traded in wholesale quantity. A coin or bar has to be minted, distributed, stocked and shipped, and the dealer has to make a margin, so retail price is spot plus a premium. The premium is the number worth shopping between dealers, not the spot price, which is the same everywhere.
- Why do the calculators show dashes sometimes?
- Because the live spot price was unavailable or the feed could not be vouched for at that moment. Nothing here is calculated from a price we cannot stand behind, so the figures are withheld rather than estimated from an older number.
