Metal price ratios

Gold to palladium ratio today

The gold to palladium ratio is how many troy ounces of palladium one troy ounce of gold buys. Palladium is the most industrially driven of the four metals this site tracks, and the ratio is correspondingly the most volatile.

What the ratio tells you

Palladium demand is dominated by catalytic converters in petrol engines, so the ratio responds to vehicle production and emissions rules rather than to the monetary pressures that move gold. A holder switching between the two is switching between two different markets, not two grades of the same one.

How this is calculated

The live gold spot price divided by the live palladium spot price, both per troy ounce. Nothing is rounded until it is displayed.
