The rule, as Washington writes it

Washington REPEALED its bullion exemption. From 1 January 2026 sales of precious metal bullion and monetized bullion are no longer excluded from the definition of a retail sale, so dealers must collect sales tax. Almost every guide still online describes the old exemption. Coins sold to be made into jewellery or works of art were never covered.

The state rate is 6.5%. Local rates are charged on top of it and are not included here.
